The Revival!

So, we are back!
After taking a few months off for the summer, here we are again, ready to blog!

Obviously we will not be blogging as much at this time of year as we would say January - July, but we will be sure to try and blog as much as possible and about as much as possible. Now for some questions!

Here We Go:

NBA Lockout: Will it ever end?

Ryan: We might as well start looking into other sports because it seems like this thing won't be ending anytime soon.

Chris: Will it ever end? obviously. Will it end on time to start the regular season? probably not. As much hope as I would like to hold on to, things right now seem to be going no where. Unless one side has a drastic change of heart, we won't be seeing NBA action anytime soon.

NFL season: Who will win the Superbowl?

Ryan: Predicting the winner of the Superbowl is always tough because unlike some leagues there hasn't really been one or two teams that are always competing in the finals frequently. In fact since 2000, the only team that has made repeated trips to the Superbowl on consecutive years was the Patriots in 2004 and 2005. This has thus resulted in a new champion being crowned claiming the Lombardi trophy each year with the exception of the Patriots in 2004-05. So for now I'm gonna say that we'll see a new champ this year, but I have no idea who that'll be at this moment.

Chris: Like Ryan said, predicting the winner of the Superbowl is so hard to do.Unlike hockey, basketball or even baseball there aren't constant teams in the finals. There are teams constantly in the playoffs, but that's a totally different story. Seeing as I don't know a whole lot about the NFL it's hard for me to comment wisely, so I'll go out on a limb and call the Patriots winning the Superbowl over the Packers.

PGA Tour: Who wins the Tour Championship and who'll claim FedEx Cup?

Ryan: The PGA tour playoffs come to an end this week with the top 30 in the FedEx cup standings playing for a shot to win the Tour Championship and a new FedEx cup champion will be crowned as well since the defending champ, Jim Furyk, wasn't able to make it into the top 30 after last weeks event. Webb Simpson (currently ranked #1 in the FedEx Cup standings) seems like the favorite going into this event since he has been the most consistent player in the playoffs thus far and is always near the top on the leader board, not to mention he has won two of the last four events including the Deutsche Bank Championship two weeks ago. Though I do not think Simpson will win the Tour Championship, I can see him finishing in the top 5 and maintaining his #1 rank on the FedEx Cup leaderboard and thus winning the FedEx cup and claiming the $10 million paycheck that comes along with it. As for the winner of the Tour Championship, I'm going to go with Luke Donald, he's ranked #1 in the world for a reason and he'll show why this week. Geoff Ogilvy is my darkhorse pick to win if Donald doesn't.

Chris: I have to agree with Ryan. Webb Simpson has a fairly large lead atop the FedEx cup leaderboard and with #2 Dustin Johnson having some recent struggles lately I don't see him making a move for the top.

Roger Federer: Will he ever win another grand slam?

Ryan: Pretty sure he isn't done winning yet them yet. He hasn't won one in a while, actually he hasn't won a tournament in quite some time either, but he's still got about 4 years left in him and I'm pretty sure we'll see him winning at least one of two more in that time, unless no one is able to stop Djokovic and he just runs over all the competition and wins everything in the next few years.

Chris: Before the US Open I would have said YES, without a doubt in my mind. Now though, that has changed. He went into the semi finals playing some of his best tennis all year, having defeated Tsonga quiet easily on the way. Then starts the match against Djokovic. Federer gets off to a great start winning the first 2 sets, and even had 2 match points. Djokovic saved both of them, and ended up winning the next two sets to win the match. This was the second grand slam match in a row that Federer had been up 2 sets and had lost. Prior to this years Wimbledon match with Tsonga he was 178-0 when leading by 2 sets. His loss to Tsonga in Wimbledon was the first time he had ever blown a 2 set lead, and now it has happened again at the US Open. So what this becomes a question of now is not whether Federer has the skill to play and beat Nadal and Djokovic, but does he have the stamina? Only time can tell, and unfortunately for Roger, time is not on his side.
